What is FoodTango?

FoodTango is an online marketplace that brings together solo diners to their favorite restaurants. Whether a person is travelling solo for business or leisure or if a person is simply alone and wants to join other people at a particular restaurant in their home town, FoodTango has created a platform to bring solo diners together.

It is not restricted to solo diners. It might be a group of friends on holiday wanting to join others at a particular restaurant. It might be couples wanting to join and meet other people. FoodTango is about community, food and enjoyment. The diner simply registers on the website and completes a profile. There is no cost. It’s as simple as that.

 How do you book onto a TangoTable?

Firstly you must register. Then you can search for a restaurant by Area or Cuisine. Participating restaurants will show TangoTables that are open for bookings.

If the restaurant is not registered with FoodTango, you can still request us to arrange a TangoTable for you.

When you are considering to book onto a TangoTable, you will be able to check:

1. The profile of other attendees so far
2. An outline of the meal being offered by the Restaurant including the set price

Once you are satisfied that you wish to join the TangoTable, then at this point you make your booking.

When does a diner pay?

You pay when you make your booking. Payment is not refundable.

What if the minimum number is not met?

You will be informed 5 days before the TangoTable if the minimum has not been reached. You will not be charged for anything.

Why do you have to pay upfront?

Firstly, in order for TangoTables to work it is important that minimum numbers are met. After all, a person may not want to end up alone at a table or with a couple. It may become awkward if the minimum numbers aren’t met. So prepayment ensures that the numbers are met and that accurate representation (via the user profiles) occurs. Remember, you will not be charged anything if the minimum numbers are not met.

Secondly, without prepayment the final bill on the night will have to be split amongst the diners. This may create unfairness and unwanted 'discussion' in terms of people’s payment expectations. By prepaying for the event any messy and embarrassing bill splitting is avoided.

What if you cannot attend on the night?

Unfortunately, your payment will be forfeited and no refund will be paid. The reason for this is that FoodTango's restaurant partners might have arranged special menus for the TangoTable. Additionally, to allow cancellations will again interfere with the success of the evening. Diners pulling out knowing they can claim a refund will remove the commitment which spoils the event for others attending. As a comparison people attending concerts do not have the ability to claim refunds for non-attendance.

Can a booking be transferred?

Yes it can. The replacement diner simply needs your booking number.
